Janet Kay Gorr; Age 81 of Moon Township, passed away on Saturday, April 18th at PAM Specialty Hospital in Oakdale. Born in Fostoria, OH on December 12th 1944, Janet was the daughter of the late Gladys and Norman Stout. Beloved wife of Dr Walter Gorr of Moon Twp. Cherished mother of Richard “Rick” Dunham (Tracy) of Buenos Aires, Argentina and Scott Dunham of McDonald, PA. Step-mother of Walter Gorr III of Pitsfield, PA and Jon Gorr of Rainbow, CA. Sister of Jean Creeger of Grapevine, TX and Dan Stout of Davenport, FL. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Janet lived a life defined by service, curiosity, and a deep love of learning. A dedicated surgical nurse, she brought skill, compassion, and steady care to those in need, touching countless lives throughout her career. Her passion for helping others extended beyond the hospital, as she volunteered for 25 years with the Samaritan Counseling Center, offering her time and kindness to those seeking guidance and support. Equally remarkable was her adventurous spirit. She pursued extensive training in aviation, becoming an Air-Ambulance Pilot, Commuter Airline Pilot, and Flight Instructor—roles that reflected both her courage and her commitment to serving others in extraordinary ways. Whether in the operating room or the cockpit, she carried a quiet confidence and a sense of purpose that inspired those around her. Her faith was equally as important as a foundation in her life. As an active member and deacon of Sharon Presbyterian Church, she was devoted to her church community and lived out her values through service and fellowship. She found great joy in exploring the world, fulfilling a lifelong dream when she traveled to Egypt in 1989—a journey inspired by the stories her father shared from his time there during World War II. That trip remained one of her most cherished memories. At home, she embraced simple joys with the same passion. She loved traveling, capturing the beauty of nature through wildlife photography, creating with her hands through embroidery, and raising monarch butterflies. She took special delight in sharing that love of nature with her grandchildren, patiently teaching them about butterflies and how to care for them, leaving them with memories and lessons they will carry for a lifetime. A memorial service for Janet will be held at the Sharon Presbyterian Church, time to be announced in the very near future. Arrangements entrusted to R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, Moon Twp
