James Emory Nagy passed away quietly on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. Jim was born September 3, 1925, to the late Sophia and Julius Nagy, one of thirteen children. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the army in the Security forces in Italy.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Doris, sons Gary Nagy and Gregory Nagy and daughters Susan Nagy and Lyn (Mike) Hogue, grandchildren Brittany (Ryan) Glaser, Kelsey (Shane) Jordan, Karley Nagy, and Rachel and Kara Hogue and four great grandchildren: Ava, Alaina and Kaden Glaser and Levi Jordan. Jim is also survived by brother Charles (Joanne) Nagy, Donald Nagy, and Julius Nagy (Dennis), sisters Patricia Nagy, Betty (John) Guzzy, Dolores (Ron) Leake, Dianne Janroy and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Robert Nagy (Betty) and sisters Goldie Kosina, Pearl Calcagni, Helen Angelo, and Linda Jones.
Jim, in his early life, trained as a machinist. Family and friends all agreed that he could fix or build anything and earned the nickname “Energizer Bunny.” In 1955, he joined MetLife, winning many management and sales awards. He retired after 54 years of service from the company.
Jim will be sorely missed by “The Kids,” his best furry buddies, Max, Tedd E., and Sammy. They loved nap times with Jim.
Friends may pay respects at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. on Sunday, October 3 from 2-4, 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 4 at 11 AM conducted by Rev. Dr. Donald G. Scandrol and Rev. Dennis Lawton. Burial will be at Olive Branch Cemetery in Smithton on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 11:30 AM.
