James L. Husak, longtime resident of Sewickley, Pennsylvania passed away on March 18, 2021.
He was born to parents Edward and Stella on July 16, 1937 in the South Side of Pittsburgh. Jim graduated from Brentwood High School and attended Penn State where he studied petroleum and civil engineering.
Jim played an integral part in designing the structural plans for runways of the Pittsburgh International Airport. He was a hard worker who always took pride in his work.
Jim was known for his love of the outdoors, including fly fishing and gardening. He enjoyed sharing harvests from his garden with family, friends and neighbors. Jim was a big fan of Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Steelers and Penguins. He was an avid reader who also enjoyed collecting books. Crossword puzzles were another favorite hobby, and he never missed an opportunity for a dad joke. Jim's skills with home improvement fell just short of legendary.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia Ann (Ferguson) Husak of Sewickley, and sisters Jean Meiser and June DiPietro. Jim is survived by his sister Judy Hodgson of San Diego, CA; daughters Donna Jean Ling (Jim) of Moon Twp, PA and Carol Lee Sakamoto (Yasuhiro) of Tokyo, Japan, and son Deron of Shawnee Hills, Ohio. He is also survived by his three grandchildren Emily Sakamoto, Oliver Husak and Julian Husak, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the R.D. Copeland Funeral Home in Sewickley (https://www.copelandfuneralhomes.com/sewickley) on Wednesday from 6-8 PM, and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral Prayer will be said at 10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Divine Redeemer Church (formerly St. James) starting at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow immediately at St. James Cemetery.
