Jack Wilfong (1944-2025)

Jackie (Jack) Wayne Wilfong, age 80, of Sewickley, PA passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 30, 2025.  Born August 15, 1944 in Ellamore, Randolph County, WV, Jack’s life started in a small lumber town and he grew up in Winchester, VA.  He played varsity football at James Wood High School and graduated in 1963.  Shortly after high school, he joined the US Army and was stationed in South Korea.  Jack worked many decades in the commercial airline industry retiring from Braniff International and US Airways Airlines.

On April 19, 1975, Jack married his love Katherine Dixon in the Rose Garden in Winchester, VA.  Jack was an avid reader, enjoyed watching Turner Classics movies and greeted everyone with a hug and a smile.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Denzil and Nellie Wilfong, brothers Walter and Cecil Wilfong, sisters Edna Webster, Mary Hudson, Edith Armel, and son Ryan Wayne Wilfong, nephew Todd Webster.  He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years Katherine Dixon Wilfong, her sister Christine Dixon, his brothers Randy and Scott Wilfong, daughter Lara Wilfong, and multiple nieces and nephews.

His remains will be laid to rest at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 100 Resurrection Road, Coraopolis, PA 15108 on Wednesday, May 7th at 2PM where committal services will be conducted by Rev. Hannah Loughman of Sewickley United Methodist Church.
