Jackie L. Battles

On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Jackie L. Battles was called to his eternal rest by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jackie was born on November 16, 1949, at Sewickley Valley Hospital in Sewickley, PA to the late James and Maxine Battles.

Jackie graduated from Coraopolis High School in Coraopolis, PA in 1967. After graduating high school, Jackie enlisted in the United States Army where he served  as a Military Police Officer - Guard and Watchman  and received the National Defense Service Medal. Jackie was honorably discharged in 1976.  After serving his country, he entered the workforce as a construction worker until he retired.

Jackie was known for his infectious energy and loud, boisterous voice that could light up any room especially in one word  - BABYEHHH!  He touched the hearts of many and will forever be remembered as a passionate all-star athlete (the best one in the family still if you would ask him). He excelled in football, basketball and baseball, inspiring many with his dedication, skill, and sportsmanship. He was a loving family member, and a true friend.

Jackie was proceeded in death by his father and mother, James and Maxine Battles of Coraopolis, PA, brother James Lavoy (Tammy) Battles of Coraopolis, PA and sister Rita Battles of Coraopolis, PA.

Jackie will be deeply missed by his life partner Christine Borcherding of Coraopolis, PA; children Jackie Whiteside (Lynne) of North Carolina; Diana Utley (Robert) of Beaver Falls, PA; Diallo Bryant, Darin Bryant, Dominic Battles and Tyler Battles all of Coraopolis, PA and bonus son Jake Shurts of West Virginia; sister-in-law Maggie Battles of Coraopolis, PA; 12 grandchildren - Gabrielle, Joey, Cierra, Diallo Jr, Dante, Dyani, Charlie, Cody, Dashai, Mikayla, Dominique and Jaxon; 3 great-grandchildren Krishon Jr (KJ), Eliyana, and Tavon, along with a host of  nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends all whom he loved deeply.

Visitation services will be Monday, September 23, 2024 from 2PM - 6PM at R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, 867 5th Avenue, Coraopolis, PA 15108. The funeral service will begin at 6PM.
