Helen Marie (Filakousky) Mixter, 86, a long-time resident of Coraopolis, has peacefully gone home to be the Lord on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 with her family by her side. Helen was born in Clairton on July 15, 1938, to the late John and Ann (Wargo) Filakousky. On July 1, 2017, she was preceded in death by her husband Russell R. Mixter, who lovingly called her babe. She was a loving wife to Russell for many years. They enjoyed bus trips, their home on Summit Street and their faithful companion Benji In addition to her parents, 3 sisters and spouse, she was also preceded in death by her stepson Kenneth W. Mixter, who faithfully cared for her for many years. She is survived by her beloved family, Russell F. Mixter and wife Donna, Christine McGinley, Beth Mixter; grandchildren Constance McGinley, David McGinley and wife Virginia, Brianna McCracken and husband Jake, Bethann Erdos and husband Andrew; great grandchildren Gavin McGinley, Brinley, Reese, Mayla and Judson McCracken, Ariella, Judah, Jonah and Calvin Erdos. She always looked forward to visits from her family and supplied them with candy, perfectly wrapped presents, juice and her famous tea. For 35 years, Helen was a library clerk for Robert Morris University, where she made life-long friends. She was an avid reader, loved needlework, loved her plants/flowers and precious family. She was a woman of hospitality, who love to serve all those around her. She will be greatly missed. Visitation Saturday (February 22) 2 PM until time of service at 3 PM at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd.
