Harry “Bob” Gittins, age 83, passed away on March 21, 2026. Born and raised in Moon Township, Bob lived a life defined by service, dedication, and deep love for his family.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Bob served his country honorably for eight years. After returning home, he married the love of his life, Eileen, and together they built a home in Hopewell Township. They raised two daughters, Diana and Michele, who were the center of his world. In a moment both tender and bittersweet, Bob was reunited with his daughter Michele in Heaven—on her birthday.
Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife, Eileen; his daughter, Diana; and Diana’s husband, Ken Spencer. He was a devoted grandfather to Gabi and Jill, who filled his life with immeasurable joy and pride. He also leaves behind his cherished nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Bob’s life was further enriched by the many friends who stood by him through the years, sharing laughter, support, and countless memories. His family and friends will forever carry his memory with them, honoring the love and kindness he shared throughout his life.
A skilled carpenter by trade, Bob was known for his craftsmanship, work ethic, and the pride he took in building things that lasted. After retiring, he embraced quieter days spent on his pontoon boat along the Beaver River—a place where he found simple happiness. He also spent his time building birdhouses and volunteering at the Center for the Mall, where he spent time helping in the gym and socializing with friends.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, kindness he extended to everyone around him and silliness of wearing costumes for all the holidays.
Visitation will be held at R. D. Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Township on Thursday March 26 from 4–7 PM. Funeral services will take place at New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Hopewell Township, Aliquippa on March 27 at 11 am.
Bob’s legacy lives on in the family he loved, the senior center he served, the love of America, and the countless lives he touched.
