Harry Buntin, Sr. Obituary

Harry James Buntin Sr., 82, passed away at UPMC Shadyside Hospital on Saturday, March 7, 2026. He was born on August 18, 1943, at Sewickley Hospital to the late Harry E. Buntin and Francis O. Buntin.

Harry was a proud 1962 graduate of Coraopolis High School, where he lettered in track, football, and basketball, and played trumpet in the school’s marching band. After graduation, he obtained his Citizens Radio Station License and worked as a radio DJ under the handle “Sir Harry.”

Harry is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Arlene Priest Buntin; his daughter Rosslyn Michele Claiborne and her husband Ronald of Phoenix, Arizona; his son Harry “Little Harry” James Buntin Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona; and his son Bradley James Buntin and his wife Zhanat of Parkland, Florida. He was a proud grandfather to Alexis and Nicholas Rozzell, Julia Buntin.

Harry also leaves to mourn his brother Charles Buntin of Moon Township, many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Harry was known as a hardworking man from the age of sixteen, and his grit and determination set him apart. He worked part-time with US Airways/American Airlines for 40 years before retiring in 2009. He also worked as an outside technician for Bell Atlantic/Verizon Wireless, retiring in 2010 after 40 years of dedicated service. In addition, for the past 54 years, Harry served as an Allegheny County Constable, faithfully protecting the public at polling places up until the time of his passing.

Harry had a deep love for music of all kinds, with some of his favorite artists including Earth, Wind & Fire and The Gap Band. Harry loved hosting family and friend during his famous 4th of July parties where he entertained guest by showcasing his DJ skills. Harry’s neighbors also enjoyed listening to his music while he was washing his cars and exercising on the porch.

When not renovating the Buntin Manner he also enjoyed cruising the Caribbean waters with his wife Arlene. He was also an avid movie and sports fan, especially enjoying professional football and basketball.

Harry will be remembered for his strong work ethic, dedication to his family, friends, and the joy he found in music, sports, and serving his community and will be missed by all.
