Gwendolyn McHugh Ogle, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 after a long and full life. Gwen was born April 8, 1930 in Uniontown, PA. She was the fourth daughter to the late William A. and Gwendolyn Barnes McHugh. She was the beloved wife for 41 years to the late Jere Ogle. Gwen is survived by her loving family who will miss her dearly. Mother of Charles Ogle (Carol Kyler) of Moon Township, PA and Richard (Marilyn) Ogle of Somerset, PA. Grandmother of Katy (Josh) Hunter and Kelsey Ogle (Steve Martz). Great grandmother of Gwendolyn Mary and Callen McHugh Hunter. As well as numerous loving nieces and nephews. Gwen went to secondary school at Georgetown Visitation in Washington D.C., and went on to graduate from Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY. Gwen married Jere Ogle in 1955 and settled in Moon Township where they raised their two sons. Gwen taught elementary education at St Joseph Catholic School in Coraopolis, PA. Gwen cared for her mother in-law, Louise Ogle at Valley Care Senior Facility, which began her lifelong advocacy for senior care serving on the board of Valley Care Associates. After the passing of her husband, Jere, Gwen spent her time volunteering and advocating for quality senior care. She was very active in the following associations: Alzheimer Association, as an officer of LifeSpan, and the Governor’s Council on Aging. Gwen received many awards and recognition for her passionate volunteerism and service. Gwen was, also, an active member of St. Margaret Mary Church in Moon Township for many years. She loved and taught us all valuable life lessons that we will forever keep in our heart. Friends will be received the R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 981 Brodhead Rd, Moon Township on Friday, December 16, from 3 to 7 pm. A funeral mass will be on Saturday, December 17 at St Margaret Mary, 1 Parish Place, Coraopolis, PA at 9:30 am (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Following mass, all are welcome to join Gwen’s family for a reception to celebrate her life at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott, 777 Aten Road, Coraopolis, PA. Internment will take place at Uniontown Cemetery at a later date.
