Obituary

Gloria Ann (Owens) Woods, 80, a Coraopolis resident most of her life, was taken up to her heavenly home peacefully from her earthly home on the morning of Thursday, August 31, 2023.

Gloria was born in Washington, PA on March 13, 1943, one of six children born to the late William and Mary “Mom” (Stafford) Owens.  

Gloria was married to her late beloved husband Robert “Lefty” H. Woods for 38 years.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers William H. Owens and Oscar L. Owens.

Gloria retired from Allegheny General Hospital where she had been a phlebotomist for many years.  She was currently employed as a Bus Monitor for STA.  

Gloria united with Mt. Olive many years ago where she sang in the Fellowship Choir and was a Deaconess.  Upon her return to Coraopolis she reunited with Mt. Olive where she was an active and faithful member serving on the Hospitality Committee, and a member of the Widowers Ministry.

She gave the best hugs and that just added to her beautiful smile.  Gloria was a real people-person and loved to talk. and enjoyed playing BINGO.  Simply, she really was the life of the party.

Gloria leaves to mourn her memory her loving son Robert H Woods, Jr. (Barbara) of Mt. Lebanon, PA; loving daughter Sarina Woods of Atlanta, GA; proud grandmother of Sean Stevenson; cherished sisters Wanda Hitchcock (William) of Williamsburg, VA, Claudia “Toni” Owens of Coraopolis, PA and Pearl “Bunny” Edwards of Newport News, VA; along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Visitation Tuesday 2-4, 6-8 at Copeland's Coraopolis, 867 fifth Ave., further visitation will be on Wednesday from 10-11 AM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Lunch will follow. Burial will be private at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
