Gloria D'Andrea Obituary

Gloria (Bianchi) D'Andrea

1926-2020

Our beautiful Angel, Gloria, is now singing with the choir of angels in heaven after she peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2020, in the loving comfort of the staff at Vincentian Marian Manor in Green Tree, PA. She was born April 12, 1926 in Sewickley, PA, the beloved daughter of the late Victor J. and Helen (Deegan) Bianchi of Edgeworth, PA. She attended Mt. Gallitzin Catholic girls' school in Baden and graduated from what is now Carlow University with a major in social work. She did social work for Allegheny County and later was employed as an assistant personnel director for Joseph Horne's department store in Pittsburgh.

In November 1956, she married her beloved husband, Joseph F. D'Andrea, and they began their long and beautiful journey together in Moon Township, PA, which included many adventurous travels abroad. Gloria loved to sing and had a beautiful operatic voice; she also loved dancing with her husband. Cooking was her passion; she became a gourmet cook of Italian cuisine, which she created for the many dignitaries from around the world whom her husband invited to their home. Her favorite pastimes included baking, reading books and shopping. She had an aura of elegance and was a beautiful person inside and out. She carried herself with the dignity and grace of a real lady, and at the same time she had a witty sense of humor and a beautiful infectious smile that would light up a room. She showered her family, friends and stray cats with genuine warmth, empathy and kindness. She loved her family and her church, St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Moon.

She will be deeply missed by her devoted and beloved husband, Joseph F.  D'Andrea; her loving daughter, Anne D'Andrea O'Rourke; a cherished brother, Victor J. Bianchi (Shirley) of Florida;  her dear brother-in-law, Lucio D'Andrea (Edvige), of Virginia, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in the U.S.A. and in Italy; and many friends.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, she will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery, Moon. There will be a Mass and celebration of her life at a later date. Arrangements are by R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, Coraopolis.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gloria D'Andrea may be made to: Catholic Charities, 212 9th St., Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
