Giuseppe Floro

Giuseppe Floro, Age 96, of Sewickley, died peacefully at home on May 17, 2024. He was born in 1927 in Falerna (Catanzaro) in the Calabria region of southern Italy to the late Antonio and Antonia (Ferraro) Floro. Giuseppe was predeceased by his beloved wife of 72 years, Iolanda Epifania Floro, his brothers, Serafino and Tommaso, and his sister, Olinda. He is survived by his children, Antonia (Rich), Anthony (Mindy) and Serafino (Lisa). He was also a loving grandfather to Jacqueline Ruberto, Michael Haegg (Amy), Joseph, Marisa (Allard), Alaina and Dominic Floro. Three great-grandchildren who Giuseppe adored, Roman, Tori and Kennedy Haegg, also survive him.

Giuseppe and Iolanda came to Sewickley in 1952 to start a new life. He went on to work at Bethlehem Steel in Leetsdale, PA and was a proud member of the United Steelworkers of America. He owned several rental properties which he remodeled, maintained and managed. Giuseppe was also a gardener for many Sewickley, Edgeworth and Sewickley Heights residents. He nourished his own vegetable garden for decades. Giuseppe’s mind was sharp and he would converse about various topics until the end. He was most proud of his children’s accomplishments in becoming a nurse and attorneys.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 1 – 7:30p at the R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, Irvine Chapel, 702 Beaver Street, Sewickley where a prayer service will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 10 AM prior to Mass of Christian Burial at Divine Redeemer Parish, St. James Catholic Church, 200 Walnut Street, Sewickley, PA  at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery, Sewickley.
