Obituary
Gene Collins, Age 86, of Clinton, PA formerly of Hopewell passed away after a long illness with his family by his side on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Beloved husband for 67 years to Dehlia (Dee) Collins. Cherished father of Cathy Jean Mathias (Wayne), Thomas Collins, Sherry (Mike) Durica and Susan Harris. Grandfather of Matt (Sarah) Mathias, Alison (Donnie) Cokus, Abbey (Justin) Moore, Patrick (Julia) McClean, Kate Montigeney, Lauren Collins and Devin McGovern. Great-grandfather of Elias, Melina and Angelo Gene Cokus, Piper Mathias and Mia Moore. Gene worked for LTV Steel Aliquippa Works as a Heater for many years before taking a job on the grounds crew at the Maratta Golf Course. There, he honed his skills as a very talented and accomplished golfer, always enjoying rounds with his friends and family alike. As per Gene's wishes, all services will be private. The family wishes to express thanks to Gallagher Hospice and their staff for the very kind and compassionate palliative and hospice services provided to Gene. Contributions in his name can be made to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Arrangements entrusted to R.D. Copeland Funeral Home.
