Fred Strouse Obituary

Fred L. Strouse, a young 55, passed peacefully on Friday, Oct. 30, 2020 at Oakland VA Medical Center. Fred was born on July 19, 1965 in Germany, a child of a military family, son of the late Allen and Pearl (Fisher) Strouse. Fred grew up in Apollo, graduating in 1983 and joined the U.S. Army. Fred obtained his bachelor’s degree in Business while in the service. For over 20 years, Fred worked in supply at numerous state side and overseas assignment, achieving the rank of Sgt. First Class. He was recipient of many awards to include 3 Meritorious Service Medals, The Joint Service Commendation Medal and 4 Army Commendation Medals. After retiring from the U.S. Army, Fred continued to work for over ten years for the government as a logistic consultant. His honor, pride and passion was to fully outfit his soldiers to go off to war. Fred was blessed to meet his wife Judy (Knittel) Strouse whom he married in 2010. He was always the stellar entertainer, hosting many cookouts and gathering for family and friends. His other passions included camping, gardening and his “Harley”. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy. He is the loving father of Michael, Pearl, Allen, Alex, and stepson Michael; proud grandfather of 9; along with many friends and his extended Army Family. A service will be held July 19, 2021 at 11 AM at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors. A gathering of friends and family will follow at Fred's home. Fred was proud to be an American and proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army.
