Francis J. Mayer, 78, a Coraopolis resident most of his life, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, with his family present. Born in Pittsburgh on March 2, 1947, he was one of four children born to the late Frank John and Dolores Catherine (Fazio) Mayer. Beloved husband for 55 years to Linda (Copka) Mayer; loving father of Kevin Mayer, Susan (Deane) Watson, and David (Krista) Mayer; proud grandfather of Deana (Jason) Lanoy, Isaac Watson, Sophia Mayer, Emma Mayer, and Rosie Mayer, soon to arrive; great grandfather of Harper and Theo Lanoy; cherished brother of Mary Ann (Bob) DiTommaso, Michael (Cheri) Mayer and Thomas (Patricia) Mayer; brother-in-law of Dorothy Copka. Francis was a graduate of North Catholic High School, class of 1965. Most of his life, he worked as a sales representative for Steel City Electric and Wiremold. While in Charleston WV and continuing his work for Wiremold, he owned and operated Frank J. Mayer Sales (a lighting company) from 1989-1996. Francis was proud to serve his country during Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Seminole. In his later years, he could be seen strolling around his beloved town of Coraopolis. He had daily trips to Cash Market and McDonalds; he loved their coffee. And he will be remembered for his generosity. Francis will have a private inurnment at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In memory of Francis, the family suggests donations, if desired, to Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements by Copeland’s.
