Frances “Fran” J. (Michalik) Holfelder, 84, of Cheswick, formerly of Coraopolis/Moon Area, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Bayberry Place, which she considered her home. Fran was born on May 11, 1940, in Pittsburgh to the late Francis R. and Veda B. (McEndree) Michalik. In 2006, Fran was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, George Holfelder. Loving mother of Robert M. (Paulette Schmetzer) Snyder, Jr., Frank R. (Diane) Snyder of Portsmouth, VA, Arla J. (Paul) Baker of Gibsonia, and Eve (James) Tanner of Cheswick; cherished grandmother of Julie (Ben) Lloyd, Jimmy (Dana) Tanner, Ben Snyder, Tori (Steven) Megill, Scott Baker, Bryce Baker, and Seth Baker; adored great grandchildren Tessa, George, Peter Lloyd, Jane Tanner with one more expected in February 2025; sister-in-law of Arla Foley of Moon Township; aunt of Doug Foley, Erin (Jack) Kelly, Kelly (Tom) Mickle, and Dr. Elizabeth (Chris) Zona; also many grand nieces and nephews. Fran was a manager for the UniMart in Coraopolis, the PennzMart in Ambridge, and she ran her own business, the Holfelder Daycare Service. She was a former member of St. Joseph Church. Also, she was a member of the Associations for Disabled American Veterans and Paralyzed Veterans of America. Fran had attended writing classes in a local college. She was described as spicy, fiery, fierce, dynamic, generous, stubborn, and caring. She was an advocate for the residents at the assisted living facility. Fran would use kind words like sweetie and honey and was always trying to “mother” everyone. She will forever be in our hearts. A celebration of her life is being planned for later. Fran was always trying to help others and suggested donations in her husband George’s name be made to West Hills Food Pantry. Arrangements by Copeland’s.
