Ethel Marie Trostle (Paha)
Resident of Masonic Village in Sewickley, Pa and formerly of Allison Park, Pa and Ft Myers, FL. Ethel passed away peacefully May 23, 2020, recently reaching her 98th birthday. Last September she celebrated her golden anniversary with husband John (Jack) Trostle, who survives Ethel. She was the beloved mother of the late Cathy Lee Sterling (Greg Sterling) of Cranberry and Carol Ann Mader (Steve Mader) of North Andover, MA, and grandmother to Kelsey Sterling Onder (Ryan), Kaitlin Sterling, Bryan Sterling (Shelby), and Allison Mader. She is also survived by great grandchildren Kaylee, Mariah, and Tyler Onder. Ethel was born in Munhall Pa to Helen Ullichney Paha and Andrew Paha in 1922. She and jack married in 1944 while he was stationed in Montgomery, AL before he joined the war effort as a pilot in England. When he returned, she began the life she loved as a wife, mother, and wonderful homemaker. She was proficient on the sewing machine, a gifted gardener, always exploring new crafting, and made the best turkey stuffing, meatloaf, and potato salad in Pittsburgh. When the family moved to Lafayette, IN for 7 years she learned she had a gift for golf at the country club and became a ladies champion when they returned to Allison Park as home for the next 50 years. She continued to play until she was 90, spending winters in Florida. But most of all she enjoyed her family and good friends, cheering them all on in life with her support and good will. Friends and family will be received with service immediately following at Copeland Funeral Home, 702 Beaver St, Sewickley (412) 741 7100 or www.copelandfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers please consider helping find a cure for dementia with a donation in Ethel’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
