Elizabeth “Betty” (Rheam) Fowler

It is with profound sadness that we announce that our cherished mother has passed away. Elizabeth “Betty” Rheam Fowler, age 89 of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully at Tapestry Senior Living on Thursday, March 28, 2024, surrounded by her family.  Ironically, this is also the anniversary of her father’s passing.  . Betty was born in Pittsburgh on August 17, 1934, the only child born to the late Jacob Y. and Mary (Oestreicher) Rheam. She married the love of her life on June 24, 1954, Fred C. Fowler, who passed away on July 20, 2018. She is the beloved mother of Karen (Dan) Carmichael of Summerfield, FL and Valerie (Dan) Sweeney of Crescent Township; loving grandmother of Christa (Greg) Nicholson, Carla Corey, and Shana (Grayson) Dobrowski; great grandmother of Mara Corey, Luke Nicholson, Ava Corey, Sarah Nicholson, Cassie Crouse and Emmett Crouse; special family friends, Steve Yurkovich, and Shirl (Pat) Joseph and family. Betty was a retired key punch operator. She supported her daughters and was a volunteer at her children’s and grandchildren’s events. Betty was often referred to as the Eveready Bunny with endless amounts of energy, and always on the go. She was an avid card player, loved to play table games and enjoyed participating in water aerobics, and spending the winters in Florida. She was an active member of AARP, Senior Connect and Lifespan.  Betty’s Memorial Service will be held at Crossroads Church, 1000 Crossroads Drive, Oakdale, PA 15071 on Friday April 5, 2024 at 10:30 am; immediately following will be a celebration of life at Rockefeller’s Grille, 1833 McKees Rocks Road, McKees Rocks. Arrangements entrusted to R.D. Copeland Funeral Home.
