Elaine Ehle Sprott, age 90, of Moon Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2026. She was born on December 30, 1935, the daughter of the late Ralph and Carrie Heinlein Ehle.
Elaine was the beloved wife of the late Duane W. Sprott and loving mother of Shari (James) Harris and Gregg (Lissette) Sprott. She was a devoted grandmother to Karlee (Scott) Throckmorton, James (Victoria) Harris, and William Sprott, and was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Kodak, Tacora, and Levi. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Wayne and Raymond Ehle.
Elaine attended Moon Area and West Allegheny High Schools, where she was a proud majorette. Following high school, she began her career as a teller at Union National Bank in Coraopolis. It was there that she met the love of her life, Duane. Elaine later began a long and dedicated career with the Moon Area School District, where she worked for more than 40 years, first as an aide and later as the Wage Tax Collector.
Elaine was a very active and devoted member of Mount Nebo Presbyterian Church, where she generously gave her time and talents to the church community. She was especially known for being in charge of the church's annual Strawberry Festival for many years, an event she helped make a cherished tradition for the congregation and community.
Elaine lived a full and active life and had many interests. She was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. She loved traveling to watch her son and grandson play soccer and enjoyed playing softball herself. Elaine also cherished her time playing cards with her various card clubs and enjoyed breakfasts and lunches with her card-playing friends. She loved playing Bingo and visiting casinos in Pittsburgh and Las Vegas.
Above all, Elaine treasured her family, friends, church, and community. She will be remembered for her dedication, energy, wonderful sense of fun, and the many ways she brought people together. Her loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at R. D. Copeland, Inc., 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Township, on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m.
