Edward Thomas Merkel

Edward Thomas Merkel, Of Sewickley and originally from Greentree, always known as Eddie, passed away on August 5th. He was with family and enjoying the day prior to an unexpected though peaceful ascendance into Heaven.

Eddie was the beloved son of Margaret (Bean) and the late Robert Merkel. Brother of Linda (late William) Campbell, Robert Merkel, Jr., and Blair Merkel. Grandson of the late Catherine & Blair Bean and Isabella & Edward Merkel. Cherished uncle of William Campbell, Jr., Breanna Byers, Evan, Colter, Jordan, Chase and Alexandra Merkel. Great-uncle of Avery, Cole, Archie and Meadow. 

Eddie was renowned by family and friends for his sense of humor and self taught mechanical skills. He helped neighbors, friends and strangers fix all that was broke accepting only a thank you in return. For some forty years he drove car carriers and hauled specialty boats for clients.

Edward was a most loyal son, brother and friend. He enjoyed an unmatched devotion to his Doberman Pincher named Xera. Eddie you are and always will be tremendously missed by all those that you touched.

Services and Interment for Ed will be Private at his request. Arrangements entrusted to R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, Sewickley.
