Edward A. Prekop, 87, of Coraopolis/Moon Township most of his life, formerly of Hopewell, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 10, 2025. He was born in Coraopolis on July 29, 1937, one of three sons to the late Anna Jane (Kish) and Lester S. Prekop, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters-in-law Lester and Mary Prekop and John and Sherry Prekop. Edward is survived by his four children Edward Alan Prekop, Sheilah (Scott) Magnani, Jeffrey Prekop, and Kerri (Michael) Gardner; grandfather of Scotty (Rebecca) Magnani, Sarah (Steven) Roher, Jared Magnani, Zach Prekop, Isis Prekop, Damien Prekop, P.J. Ziolkowski, Justin Robinson, Cody Gardner, Christina (Jordan) Gardner, and Mikey Gardner. Great-grandfather of Autumn, Chloe, Lauren, Henry, and David. Ed was also survived by his former spouse Freda Dotson. Edward retired from the United States Post Office (mostly working at Coraopolis and Moon Branches). He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956-1959 in the Intelligence Department. For many years, he co-owned and operated Lester’s Tavern (that eventually became Chez Lounge). He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan holding season tickets with the Steelers and enjoyed watching the Pirates and Penguins too. A Committal Service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery Chapel on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 1:00 PM.
