Dwight Gerald “Jerry” Long, Jr., a Christian, hard-worker, great sense of humor, loved by all, was taken home in the arms of his Lord and Savior on  the evening of Monday, December 2, 2019 from the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family and homage of neighbors and friends. Jerry was married 50 years to the love of his life, Patricia (Ehle) Long; beloved father of Jason Long, Aaron Long and Sarah (Steve) Robertson; adored grandfather who was a proud participant in childcare for Grace Coley, Jackson Long, Kyla Coley, Gianna Bruzzese and Ava Robertson; brother of Dolores, Edna Grace, Dorothy and the late Judy; son-in-law of Grace (Betlyn) Ehle. Raised on Neville Island, he earned the nickname of “Farmer” and graduated from Neville High School, class of 1966. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Talfair, transporting U.S. Marines to the War Zone. When he returned to his home in Moon Township, he began his work as a serviceman for the Moon Township Municipal Authority for the next 38 years. A people person, Jerry was always busy, hence the friendly photography salesman at the Moon Township K-Mart. His hobby of photography bloomed into his own business, Photography by Jerry. He took his skill for 35 MM to digital with family portraits, senior pictures, weddings, class reunions, sporting events, and engagement pictures, to mention a few. He was also an avid fisherman. Jerry was an usher and member of Pathways. Jerry, loved his family, had a smile for everyone, possessed a positive disposition, had an uncanny way of making everyone feel like family. His personality was larger than life. He will be greatly missed especially by his family and the children and grandchildren that he spoiled. Visitation Thursday 2-8 at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. Please meet at West Hills Baptist Church, 259 Shafer Rd in Moon Township, as we celebrate this great man’s life on Friday at 10 AM followed by presentation of Full Military Honors. Burial will be private at Coraopolis Cemetery. Family suggests donations if desired to the American Diabetes Association or his church, Pathways, 1234 Division Street Crescent, PA 15046.
