It is with great sorrow that I announce the passing of my father, Dr. Richard H. Camp, Ed. D on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
He was born June 10, 1937, in Weir Cove, WV to Harry and Hazel Camp. He is survived by his son, Todd (Lisa) Camp and by his fiancée Elaine Milhollan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine and his son, David.
He led a hardscrabble life as one of nine children. From the time he started school to graduating high school, he had moved at least a dozen times. He graduated high school in 1955 and went to work at J & L Steel in Aliquippa. After an accident at the mill, and at the urging of his buddy, Drew, and the football coach from Geneva College, he went on to play football on a scholarship. He graduated from Geneva in 1963 and started his career in Moon Township school district. Throughout his career, he was a teacher, a principal and retired as assistant superintendent. My dad loved the kids, and they loved him back. He was an athlete, all his life and was a softball legend in the fast pitch league in the Burgettstown area. After softball, he found golf and riding his bicycle on the Montour trail. He will be missed deeply.
Friends received at R. D. Copeland, Inc., 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Township on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10 – 12 pm, where a Funeral Service will be held at 12 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
