Douglas Chaignon Watson

Douglas Chaignon Watson, 75, of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, passed away early Monday morning, September 21, 2025, at Caring Heights Community Care and Rehabilitation Center after an extended battle with cancer.

Born October 10, 1949, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Doug was the beloved son of the late Dr. Robert L. Watson and Esther Ferree Watson.

Doug was a 1967 graduate of Moon High School and earned his degree from Duquesne University in 1972.

A skilled gunsmith, Doug enjoyed repairing firearms and crafting custom parts for customers from across the country. His talent and dedication earned him the respect of many who relied on his craftsmanship. In addition to his gunsmithing, Doug worked for A.R. Miller Hardware for more than 40 years and for Carnot Distributing after that.

Doug is survived by his brother, Robert L. Watson Jr. (Lillian); his niece, Laura Ruth Grabowski (Ray), and their children, Gracie, Ava, and Ella; and his nephew, Robert Curry Watson (Gina), and their children, Isla and Garrett.

He will be remembered for his skill, his friendships, and his unique personality.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Copeland Funeral Home, 867 Fifth Avenue, Coraopolis, PA 15108.

The family would like to thank the staff of Caring Heights Community Care and Rehabilitation Center for their care and kindness. They would especially like to thank Doug’s close friends for their continuing care and friendship to Doug as he faced his health challenges.
