Douglas H. Nesaw

Douglas H. Nesaw, age 80, of Moon Twp. passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, after a 15-month battle with lung and brain cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Bette Nesaw, his brother Gary Nesaw, and his sister Joyce Nesaw.

Doug is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Florence Nesaw, son Shawn (Jennifer) Nesaw and daughter Laura Nesaw. He leaves behind his two cherished grandchildren, Madeline and Finnegan Nesaw. He also leaves behind sister-in-law, Mary Jane Liberi, brother-in-law James R. Zinsmaster (Dianne), brother-in-law Raymond E. Zinsmaster (Linda), sister-in-law Anita Nesaw and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 Doug was born October 8, 1944, in Philipsburg, PA. The family moved to Mt. Washington, where Doug graduated from South Hills High School. Upon graduation, while applying to college, he was drafted and elected to enlist in the U.S. Air Force. His military service was spent at Royal Air Force Base Alconbury, England, working on RF-4C Phantom jets achieving rank of Staff Sargent (SSGT). Doug served as Crew Chief of his own aircraft and supervised a team on the flight line. He was very proud of his military service and said it was some of the best years of his life.

Establishing his own business as a ceramic tile setter in the late 1970s, Doug served the greater Pittsburgh area for 45 years, his work becoming synonymous with precision, fairness, and quality. He never advertised. His business was all by word of mouth. Doug often said,”I know I’m getting old when my customers’ adult children call me to do their tile work”.

 Doug was a devout Catholic, avid outdoorsman – enjoying archery, hunting, fishing, and skiing – a superb chef, craftsman, and handyman. Doug loved sharing his passions with his children, grandchildren, and friends, always willing to give helpful advice on your golf swing, point out a good fishing spot, or scout out a good hunting position.

 A Catholic Mass to celebrate Doug’s life will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. James Church - Divine Redeemer Parish, 200 Walnut St., Sewickley, PA 15143. Celebrant, Rev. Thomas J. Burke. Doug will be laid to rest at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd, Bridgeville, PA 15017, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
