Dorothy (Deramo) McConkey, passed peacefully into the arms of God on Thursday, November 15, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was 95. Born in Coraopolis on March 31, 1923, she was one of eleven children to the late Roddy and Mary (Damicone) Deramo. On April 30, 2013, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 ½ years, Thomas Elliot McConkey, Jr. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her sisters Frances (the late Ray) Brush and Judy Hetzer, and brothers Roddy (the late Mary Anne) Deramo and Richard Deramo (living wife, Barbara). Dorothy was the beloved mother of Thomas David (Nancy) McConkey of Jacksonville, Fl and Joyce “Jae” McConkey Davison of Manassas, VA; loving grandmother of Guy (Elizabeth), Thomas (Jody), Justin (Kristi), Lauren, and Paige (fiancé Kris); proud great grandmother of Thomas, Tea, Emily and Violet; cherished sister of Florence Regotti, Rosemarie (John) Ciarletta and Virginia Yannick, William (Lorena) , Fred (Jackie), David (Flo) Deramo; sister-in-law of Eunice(McConkey) Nasri (William); also many beloved generations of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She also leaves behind the loving staff who cared for her at Country Meadows as well as Gallagher Hospice. Dorothy was a life-long resident of Coraopolis where she had attended Our Lady of Sacred Heart and graduated from Coraopolis High School. Upon graduation, she became a Bell Telephone Operator. She will probably be most remembered as the friendly Avon Representative, beginning her career in 1959 and serving the Avon Company over 50 + yrs. Dorothy was a charter member of Greystone UP Church and later joined Ken Mawr UP Church. She was a member of the Kennedy Garden Club and received many awards for her flower arranging. She also was a member of Y Mothers, Coraopolis Century Club and several bridge and bowling teams. Visitation Sunday 2-5 PM and 6:30 – 8:30 PM at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. Everyone is invited to Ken Mawr UP Church, 1760 Pine Hollow Rd., McKees Rocks, PA 15136 for her funeral service on Monday at 11 AM. Rev. Karl McDonald will officiate. Burial will follow in Coraopolis Cemetery.
