Dorothy (Chini) Garofalo

March 20, 1928 – October 23, 2024

Dorothy of Moon Twp passed away on Wednesday, October 23rd, at the young age of 96. She was the beloved wife to the late Michael Garofalo for 65 years. As the family matriarch, she was a devoted Mother of Michael Garofalo, Karen Peltier (Michael), James Garofalo (MeeCee Baker), and Diane McMahon (Bill); loving grandmother of Eric Zarzeczny (Shawn Damphousse), Bill McMahon, Joe McMahon (Rebecca), Lisa Blair (Jordan), Jeff Garofalo (Liz), Rob Garofalo, Andrew Garofalo (Hayley Fulk), and Libby Baker-Mikesell (Hunter Kauffman); and adoring great- grandmother to Luca, Ivy, Lena, Nellie, Percy, Jason, and Oliver. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Fedele and Rose Chini and sister Gloria Batiste. Dorothy was dedicated throughout her life to providing for her family and spent her career working at the Pittsburgh Airport. Her favorite pastime was shopping at the mall, scoring the best deal she could find, and hitting big at the casino. Dorothy and Michael enjoyed yearly trips to Atlantic City, beginning with their honeymoon in 1949, numerous trips to Las Vegas, and countless other adventures accompanied by their children and grandchildren. Dorothy was deeply loved by her family and was always the center of gatherings, cooking and hosting into her 90s. She will be immensely missed and cherished by all.  Friends will be received at the R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Twp on Sunday, October 27th from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 28th at 9:45 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, Coraopolis at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery.
