Dolores A. McCutcheon “Dolly” died suddenly in the early morning hours of April 22, 2023. She was born in Sewickley on November 5, 1935, and was raised in a small house on Francis Street in Coraopolis with her two brothers and three sisters who have all preceded her in death. She was the daughter of Anna May Wydra and Joseph Schawalt, who also preceded her in death. Also, preceded in death by her son Michael J. "Clutch" McCutcheon.

Dolly moved to Sewickley in 1964 with her former husband and 3 children and lived there for 53 years. She attended St. James Catholic Church and Sewickley Baptist Church for many years. In 1971 she started working as a housekeeper for various families, and continued performing that service until she retired in 2013 at the age of 78.

Being a housekeeper, Dolly kept an impeccable home. She had a flare for interior decorating. Generous at heart, she was kind and talkative to everyone she met. She was a fashionable dresser, enjoyed playing computer games on Pogo.com, and was an avid reader. In her later years, Dolly volunteered at the Sewickley Library, helping to reshelve books.

She never owned a car. Never drove anywhere. Never used a cell phone. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.

Despite being a woman of meager means, Dolly travelled with family to Florida, Ohio, Canada, Punta Cana and Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Her greatest joys in life were visiting family and friends, and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play and grow.

Dolly will be missed by her nieces and nephews, and her immediate family, daughters, Kathy Patterson (Robert) and Shirley Harris; her grandchildren, Lindsay Webb (Josh), Stacey Yoho (Lonnie) and Tyler Harris (Michala), and her 9 great grandchildren: LillyAnn, Sophia, Samuel, Michael, Mila, Ozias, Bella, Mia and Jaxson.

Friends are welcome to help honor and celebrate Dolly at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Avenue, on Tuesday April 25th, from 10am-12pm, and 1pm-4pm, where a Funeral Service will also be held by Pastor Jeff Arnold of the First Presbyterian Church of Beaver. Dolly's ashes will be interred alongside her son Michael at Sewickley Cemetery in the coming weeks with family and friends present.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending a monetary donation to the Sewickley Library.
