Diane Snow Obituary

Diane Louise Jensen Snow, a longtime resident of Sewickley, passed away on October 31, 2021 at Apple Blossom Senior Living in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. The daughter of the late Howard and Deborah Jensen, Diane was born on November 24, 1935 in Beverly, Massachusetts.  She was a 1957 graduate of Colby College in Waterville, Maine where she met her husband, Robert “Bob” Snow, then a U.S. Navy aviator stationed at nearby Brunswick Naval Air Station. Diane often talked about running out of class to stand by the flagpole on campus in order to wave to Bob whenever she knew he would be flying over campus. Soon after graduation, she turned down an opportunity overseas to marry Bob and start a family. When not caring for her children, Diane spent her free time volunteering for the Sewickley Valley Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, The Sewickley Woman’s Club, The Pittsburgh Symphony, and The Sewickley Music Club where she held various board positions.

Diane will be remembered as the family organizer.  She loved planning family/friend gatherings that often featured the exotic recipes that she found in the many cookbooks that she collected. Having grown up on the ocean, she loved planning vacations to destinations that featured water. She would often talk about her younger days spent sailing the waters off the north shore of Boston.  Her three children were quite amused one summer when they watched their self-proclaimed “sailing expert” mother capsize a small sailboat in the Adirondacks. The former Atlantic Ocean lifeguard then insisted on treading water in the shallows of the placid lake whilst attempting to right her craft. Once her children left the nest, Diane returned to her beloved sea in boats that were a bit more stable. For years, she and her husband traveled the world.

Diane is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Robert, three children – Debra Snow Trau (Peter) of Culver, Indiana, Geoffrey Snow of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Judith Snow Keim of The Villages, Florida, and six grandsons -- Thomas Keim (Kellie) of Lakewood, Ohio, Robert Keim(Madison) of Grapevine, Texas, Griffin Trau of Arlington, Virginia, Alexander and James Snow, both of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Duncan Trau of Culver, Indiana. She was predeceased by her brother Stephen, her loving parents, and her son-in-law, Thomas Keim.

Burial services will be private. Memorials may be made to The Sewickley Presbyterian Church, 414 Grant Street, Sewickley, PA 15143 or Colby College, Mayflower Hill Drive, Waterville, ME 04901.
