David Joseph Quigley, 72, of McCandless, PA, formerly of Leetsdale, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, David was a graduate of Quaker Valley High School (Class of 1970), where he met the love of his life and future wife, Elizabeth (Betsy, Class of 1971). David’s career included various roles over the years until his work with the airlines, first through Envoy and then American Airlines, before finally retiring in 2020. David was always extremely crafty and had a wonderful talent for engineering, woodworking, and drawing. He enjoyed a good joke, a winning hand at poker, his pets, traveling on cruises with his family, and spending time with his grandchildren.
David is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Laura Quigley, formerly of Sewickley. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth (Betsy), daughters Amy (Matthew) Dwyer of Sewickley and Meagan (Bradley) Soroka of McCandless, and grandchildren Aiden, Connor, Hannah, Alex, Tyler and Delaney. Additionally, he is survived by sisters Kathy Hardway of Coraopolis, Heather (Paul) Carson of Cranberry Township, and brothers-in-law Charles Bauer (Sewickley) and Paige (Catherine) Bauer (Julian, NC), in addition to seven nieces and one nephew.
Friends and family will be received at Copeland’s Funeral Home, Irvine Chapel in Sewickley on Tuesday, May 26th from 5:00-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27th at 10:30am at St. James Catholic Church, 200 Walnut Street, Sewickley.
