David Blair Murray

Of Sewickley Township, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones. David was the beloved son of Mary Ann Murray of Shaler and the late Harry H. Murray. He is survived by his four siblings, Meg Parme (Mark) of Annapolis, MD, Michael (Miriam) of Southlake, TX, Brian of Robinson Township, and Trish of Belmont, NC; nephew of Pat DiGioia (Tony). David was a graduate of Shaler High School and Geneva College. He obtained his BA degree in Education. Shortly after graduation, David returned to Geneva College as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach, where he remained for 15 years. His love for soccer and young people was the inspiration behind finding World Cup Soccer Camps, in which David’s expressed purpose was to teach kids the game of soccer while ensuring that they had fun in the process.

David led a fulfilling life that was driven by accomplishment and love for his family. He impacted many lives along his journey and had never failed to make somebody smile. He had an infectious laugh and lived by the virtues of generosity, compassion, and kindness. David found purpose through helping others and making this world a better place. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Celebrate David’s life with his family from 2-4 and 6-9 on Thursday at Copeland Funeral Home, 702 Beaver Street, Sewickley, PA 15143. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am Friday at St. James Roman Catholic Parish in Sewickley.
