David A. Pitaro, age 65, passed away surrounded by his loving children on Friday, May 22, 2026, at AGH Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was born on October 8, 1960, to John Pitaro and Alma “Amy” (Stack) Pitaro.
David was a graduate of Moon Area High School and spent most of his career working as an elevator mechanic and inspector. He enjoyed living a simple life, and nothing made him happier than spending time with his family.
He was a humble and kind man, which was evident through the lifelong friendships he maintained from childhood and the countless charities he generously supported. David was not only a grandfather to five, but also a man of strong faith, a talented athlete and bowler, and someone who had an amazing knack for direction.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Amy Pitaro, and his father, John Pitaro. He was a loving father to his three children, Daniel (Elisha) Pitaro, Paul (Micki) Pitaro, and Rachel (Evan) Arison; a son to his stepmother, Pamela Pitaro; and a loyal brother to his siblings, John (Betty) Pitaro and Jamie (Fran) Petraglia. He was also a proud “Pops” to his five grandchildren, Enzo, Marco, Berkley, Nico, and Penelope. Though he will be deeply missed, his strength, humbleness, and unwavering faith will live on.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, May 28, from 4:00–8:00 p.m. at R. D. Copeland Funeral Home, 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Twp. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 29, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church.
