In Loving Memory of Claire Elizabeth Best
November 14,1949 – May 11, 2026
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. After years of numerous and ongoing health battles, Claire bravely and peacefully left this world surrounded by her family.
Claire was a woman of quiet strength and boundless compassion. She lived her life with an open heart, always ready to listen, to comfort, and to give without expecting anything in return. Her presence could brighten the darkest day, and her wisdom - often shared over a warm cup of coffee, guided us through many of life’s challenges. Those closest to Claire would remember her best by her attention to the details. From her plentiful garden pots, to her curated home - every decoration, every wrapped gift, every holiday table set was chosen to create special moments for her family.
Born in McKeesport, she grew up with a deep appreciation for simple joys: the smell of fresh sourdough bread, the beauty of a manicured garden in bloom, and the sound of her children’s, and grandchildren’s voices filling our homes. She poured her love into everything she touched, whether it was a lovingly prepared meal, the beauty of a hand-sewn quilt, her magical decorating skills, or the countless acts of kindness she always offered to friends, neighbors, and strangers alike.
Her greatest pride was her family. She was a present and devoted mother to Kelly and Erin. Never missing a single soccer game, practice, school event, Kennywood picnic, performance, or recognition - she made sure her girls knew they were supported and celebrated. Whether it was donating her time as a girl scout leader or delivering Meals-On-Wheels, she instilled the responsibility of serving others. A cherished Grammy to Elliot, Evynn, Jackson, their short time together with her was filled with love, tender moments, and warm Grammy hugs. A loyal friend to many she was always willing to help and provide. She taught us the value of kindness, the strength in forgiveness, and the importance of finding beauty in everyday moments.
Though our hearts ache with her absence, we take comfort in knowing her love will forever be a part of us. Her legacy lives on in the way we care for one another, in the many traditions she passed down, and in the gentle strength she instilled in our hearts. “Be Kind, Be Brave”.
A celebration of her life will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests donations to a charity of your choice in her memory. If you would like to share a thought or memory of Claire please do so on her tribute page on the funeral home website.
Rest peacefully, dearest Claire. You were our home, our safe place, and our greatest blessing.
