Charles "Chip" M. Holland

Charles M. “Chip” Holland, “greatest man alive”, of Ligonier and Coraopolis, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Latrobe Hospital at the age of 70. He was born in Sewickley, PA on May 1, 1949, one of three to the late Charles E. and Helen (Evens) Holland. On July 12, 2016, Chip was preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend for 43 years, Gretchen R. (Gunn) Holland. He also was preceded in death by his son Charles “Chipper” Holland. Chip is the well-loved father of Robert (fiancé Jamie Piper) Holland, Jeremy Holland, and Craig (Sara) Holland; his sister Heidi Hershberger, his brother George Evens Holland, and nieces and nephews Kristie (Tim) Hynes, Kayla Torello and Kevin Early. Chip was a 1967 graduate of Coraopolis High School and a 1971 graduate of Edinboro State University in Music Education and Art. Upon graduation, he began his teaching career in 1972 in the Moon Area School District. For over 30 years, he was the beloved assistant Director of the Moon School District. He was an avid race car fan of NASCAR and loved trains and music. He will be forever remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and smile. Visitation Monday 2-4, 6-8 at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. where service will be held on Monday at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to the charity of your choice.
