Charles A. Knoll, Jr., 72, a Sewickley resident since 2003, formerly of McKees Rocks, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 10, 2025. He was born in Pittsburgh on March 24, 1953, eldest of four to the late Catherine (Baker) and Charles A. Knoll, Sr. Devoted father of Chloe, Vickie, and Charlie Knoll; brother of Mina Baker Knoll (Phyllis Link), Albert Baker Knoll, and Dr. Kim Eric Knoll (Judy); uncle of Tyler and Chase Knoll; along with many cousins and a large extended Baker-Knoll family. Chuck was a graduate of The Hill School (Pottstown), obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law. Upon graduation, he practiced with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office before leaving for private practice and eventually hanging out his own shingle. He spent the majority of his career as a self-employed lawyer in both Pittsburgh and Sewickley. He was well respected by clients and legal opponents alike. Chuck was a life-long member of Chartiers Country Club. He was a self-professed “bad golfer” who loved to spend time outdoors and ended up sharing this love with his children, even winning a father-son golf tournament in 2015. He also enjoyed membership in the Amen Corner and several other legal professional organizations. Both he and his son were members of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and the Alliance Autosport team with a passion for Formula-style racing and an affinity for German cars. Despite declining health, Chuck never missed any of Charlie’s races. In his down time, he was a movie buff, enjoying both the classics and modern films, as well as being a patron of the arts. He was a dog lover and bred multiple litters of “Knollermans” (Doberman and Rottweiler puppies). His house was full of plants for which he meticulously cared, some of them older than his children. Chuck, adept at storytelling, was a man of facts and could get straight to the point or weave a great tale. Other traits he possessed were an air of confidence, somewhat prideful, always resilient, and occasionally stubborn. Chuck was all of these, but most importantly he was intelligent, thoughtful, and a proud father. Memorial visitation will be Sunday, May 18th from 1 - 3pm at Copeland’s Sewickley, 702 Beaver St. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations if desired in his name to CASA of Allegheny County, 564 Forbes Ave., Suite 1302, Pittsburgh, PA 15219, pgh-casa.org.
