Catherine (McGarry) Mey, 73, of Moon Township, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Heritage Valley Sewickley. She was born in Bellaire, Ohio on April 7, 1952, daughter of the late Howard Oakley and Dorothy Marie (Sole) McGarry. Cathy was a 1969 graduate of Bellaire High School and obtained her bachelor’s degree in information technology from Robert Morris University, class of 2000. Cathy worked in IT, retiring from the healthcare field. Cathy had many diverse interests such as astronomy, making jewelry, knitting Afghans as well as playing catcher for intramural softball. She was always goal oriented, a fiercely loyal friend, and a caring person. She had many cats throughout her lifetime, and she loved them dearly. Rooter, an abandoned newborn kitten, was rescued and nurtured by Cathy, and Spooky was another of her favorites. They both preceded her in death. We hope the Rainbow Bridge Bell, rang loudly so that Rooter and Spooky could escort her to her heavenly home. Dr. Eileen Neely, Cathy’s steadfast friend for 34 years, will miss her greatly along with her other cherished friends. A celebration of life will be held later. Arrangements by Copeland’s. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her name, if desired, to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
