Catherine Rose (Musta) McEwen

Catherine Rose McEwen, age 103, of Moon Township, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, at Apple Blossom. Born in Monessen on July 12, 1923, she was one of six children to the late Cornelius and Mary (Solon) Musta. On July 6, 2008, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, David M. McEwen, Jr. whom she married on June 29, 1946. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, David M. McEwen III on September 29, 2004, also two brothers Cornelius Musta, Jr. and Charles Musta. Catherine was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels. She also took time to play Bingo at the Coraopolis VFW and St. Joseph Church. Catherine and David enjoyed traveling and sightseeing in their motor home.  When asked, how did she live to 103? The answer was easy, Determination and Strong Will. Catherine was the beloved mother of Shirley McGahan (the late John); grandmother of Cristy and Melissa; several great grandchildren; sister of Barbara Buechel, Nicholas Musta (Adeline "Pumpkin") and Thomas Musta (the late Catherine); also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation Wednesday (September 16th) from 11 AM until time of service at 1 PM at Copeland`s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. Burial will follow in Coraopolis Cemetery.
