Catherine (Combs) Beaman passed away peacefully on August 6th, 2025, at her home at the Masonic Village at Sewickley. She was born on May 19, 1931, to Agnes and Thomas Combs. She was their only child, but lived in Stoops Ferry with many aunts, uncles and cousins with whom she shared many happy occasions. Her favorite Aunt Kate raised chickens, made her favorite angel food cake, and sewed most of her clothes (including her wedding dress).
Catherine attended school at Moon Area School District and married her high school sweetheart, Edward Kovan Beaman on September 12, 1952.
Their eldest daughter Karen (currently from Kennedy Township and married to Lee Sabat) lost their daughter Renee unexpectedly and her raised her three boys: Dante Massey (Brittany) now living in Westview, Darren Massey (Daughter Daylin) and Tyler Banks, who reside in Kennedy Township.
She was the proud great great grandmother of Dante’s son Milo and Darren’s daughter Daylin. Her “favorite” son Thomas Edward Beaman was her caregiver for the past couple of years. Her youngest daughter Marsha recently retired and moved back from California. What a blessing to have her spend such happy and meaningful moments over the past few months!
Catherine worked at Montour High School as an assistant to the High School Principal and organized all of the graduation ceremonies for over 30 years. She was ahead of her time being a working mother!
Her family were long time members of United Presbyterian Church in Coraopolis, PA. Her family resided on Silver Lane in Robinson Township with a huge garden and enjoyed canning produce for the winter. Dinner was always on the table by 4: 15 PM!
After retirement, Catherine and Edward (who passed on March 23, 2019), were the first to move to the Masonic Village in Sewickley. “Eddie” and Catherine shared 67 years of marriage together. Catherine gave tours to prospective residents for many years.
Catherine was a devoted wife and mother. She was gracious in the trust sense: kind without effort, generous without expectation, and steady in both joy and challenge. She inspired everyone around her with her unshakable positive outlook and quiet strength. Her motto was “I’ll try!” She will be deeply missed.
Viewing for Catherine will be on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025, at the Copeland Funeral Home (867 Fifth Ave., Coraopolis, PA 15108)) from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M., followed by a service and a trip to Hopewell Hebron Cemetery.
