Caroline Marie Bologna, 94, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, April 12, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion and family. Born in Detroit, MI on March 11, 1932 she was the beloved daughter of Fred and Florence Franchi. Caroline was the eldest of three and she adored her brother and sister as well as her large extended family who remained dear to her throughout her life.
Caroline began her career with Ford Motor Company before marrying the love of her life, Ray Bologna, and moving to western Pennsylvania where she devoted herself fully to raising her family. Later in life she enjoyed time in Boca Raton, Florida, before ultimately returning to Pennyslvania to be closer to those she loved most.
Her greatest role and one she cherished above all, was being a mother to her three children, Lynne Amato (James), Janice Richman and Raymond Bologna ( Donna Razza Bologna). Known for her quick wit, generosity, and joyful spirit, Caroline loved to laugh and reminisce. She found joy in old movies, big band music and reading mystery novels. She created a lifetime of memories through family gatherings, vacations and every day moments-always present, always supportive.
Her love extended to her seven grandchildren: Carly Young (Kyle), Sydney Rains (Jared), Gabrielle Amato (Zak Kreisler), Rachel Brown (Daniel), David Richman, Emily Amato and Sara Richman in whom she took immense pride, celebrating their accomplishments and lives with genuine joy. In recent year, her happiness grew as she spent time with her six great grandchildren-Grayson, Rome, Brooks, Alessia, Jackson and Harper.
Caroline will live on in the generations she nurtured and the love she gave so freely.
Caroline is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Florence Franchi, her brother Frank Franchi and sister in law Carol Franchi. She is survived by her sister Josephine Herd (Ron) of Plymouth, MI along with many nieces, cousins and friends, most lovingly Rita Tulle, Marie Miller, Lindsay Luffy and Roo. A special thank you also to all of her loving caregivers during the last few years of her life.
