Carol Lorraine Ritchey, age 88, of Hopewell Twp, PA was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 23, 2026. She was surrounded by family, who take comfort in knowing that her beloved husband of 63 years was waiting for her with open arms and they are reunited once again.
A devoted Christian, Carol’s life was defined by her commitment to sharing the gospel. Her legacy was to ‘Fill Heaven’ as she wanted everyone she met to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.
She used her many talents to serve the Lord. Carol was a Sunday school teacher mentoring generations of children in faith. A gifted musician, she spent many years as the Church Organist/Pianist. In addition to playing for church services, she was often requested to play at weddings and funerals. In doing this, she not only brought comfort to the hurting, but also created lifelong memories for many couples as they walked down the aisle on one of their happiest days.
Carol loved to crochet, spending countless hours creating beautiful, handmade blankets for all her family and friends. As soon as she heard of a new baby arriving or an upcoming wedding, she got out her yarn and began crocheting. These thoughtful gifts will surely be cherished by all, as they are wrapped in the warmth and love she poured into each one.
Carol enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Everyone had their own favorites, those special dishes she prepared for each person. The treats most looked forward to were zucchini casserole, her delicious sweet potatoes and of course her amazing cherry chocolate cake.
Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim (James Ritchey), her brother Ronald Steinmiller (Joan), and her sister Shirley Baker (Erv).
A loving mother, she is survived by her children who will miss her dearly, Marsha Mitchell, Ronald Ritchey (Lori), Valerie Kubik (Tony), Jennifer Clement (Chris).
A Grandma, blessed to have grandchildren who brought so much joy and laugher to her life, Jamie (Matt), Ashley, Katelyn (Kevin), Tyler (Emily), Tara (David), AJ, Noah and Brady.
A Great Grandmother to MJ, Ava, Luca, Liara, Avrilee, Sadie and Bennett, she cherished this role most.
Carol had a faithful companion in our dog, her Annie girl. She was loyal to the end, never leaving Carol’s side, bringing her much comfort, love and peace. Some of the hardest moments were seeing Annie’s reactions the days after her passing.
Carol loved each and every one of her church Saints dearly. She held a very special place in her heart for her closest friends Jane, Blanche and Barb. She leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
We have peace knowing Carol is now enjoying her eternal reward. She would want us all to honor her legacy by deepening our prayer life, being in close relationship with God and by following God’s will over our own. May we live boldly for Christ, as she did, trusting in His love and grace.
The family wishes to express their sincere heartfelt thanks to the entire team at AHN Residential Hospice, especially Joyce and Dana for their kindness, expertise, compassionate care and support during our Mother’s final days. We could not have navigated this journey without you.
Viewing will be at R. D. Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Twp, PA 15108 on Thursday, January 29th from 11 am-1:30 pm. A memorial service honoring the life of Carol begins promptly at 1:30 pm.
