Carmela Valenzi, 97, a life-long resident of Sewickley, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Villa St. Joseph in Baden. She was born in Sewickley on February 10, 1928, one of six children to the late John and Rosaria (Rodriguez) Valenzi. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Elizabeth Zummo, Albert Valenzi, Ralph Valenzi, and John Valenzi. She is survived by her sister Rita Buffalini of Aliquippa, and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Carmela was a graduate of Sewickley High School, class of 1945. She retired in 1985 after 40 years with Bell Telephone. Carmela had started her career as an operator and retired as a clerk. Carmela was a devoted member of St. James Church where she had sung in the choir and attended the Women’s Guild. She also was active in the VFW Post 5756, the Bell Pioneers, and the Auxiliary to the Sisters of St. Joseph. Visitation Tuesday 2-4, 6-8 at Copeland’s Sewickley, 702 Beaver St. with prayers on Wednesday at 10:00 AM followed by Mass at Divine Redeemer, St. James Church, 200 Walnut St., Sewickley, PA 15143 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
