Bernice E. Higginbotham

Bernice E. (Turner) Higginbotham, 98, of Wake Forest, N.C., passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Hillside Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Sewickley on September 3, 1922, to the late William and Bernice (Gentry) Turner. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband James S. Higginbotham; her daughter Vanessa Higginbotham; and her son Leonard Tracy Higginbotham. She is survived by her son James Ashley (Lois, deceased) Higginbotham of Raleigh, NC; her three grandchildren: Lisa (Eugene) Coleman, Jahdai Harvey, Jalil Harvey; three great grandchildren: Sydney, Symone, and Eugene III, Coleman. Bernice and her husband James made their home in Coraopolis where they raised their family. The family all attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Bernice had been employed by Sewickley Valley Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide. After retiring, Bernice and her daughter lived in St. Croix, Virgin Islands for many years.  They returned to the states to reside in Summerville, SC and later settled near family in Wake Forest, NC. Bernice will have a committal service on March 6, 2021 at Coraopolis Mausoleum Chapel at 11 am. Arrangements by Copeland’s.
