Barbara “Babs” Hendricks Emerick; 1931-2024
Barbara “Babs” Hendricks Emerick, 92, formerly of Brookville PA, passed away peacefully June
2, 2024. She was at home in Moon Twp. PA surrounded by family.
She was born in Pittsburgh PA in 1931 to Dr. W. Craig and Dorothy W. Hendricks. Her brother,
Dr, William C. Hendricks, Jr., preceded her in death. Babs attended Brookville schools and
graduated Summa Cum Laude from Wilson College.
Babs taught Latin and English at Brookville High School for many years until her retirement.
She was a lifelong educator and had a passion for teaching and counseling. She is
remembered by countless students and colleagues for her caring influence and love of her
students. She was still in touch with many. She was also a fanatic sports fan, starting with high
school sports and continuing throughout her life, Last week she was still watching WNBA and
her family’s games online.
She was married to William R. Emerick for many years and is survived by her four children-W.
Todd Emerick of Jacksonville FL, Cinda Anderson of Tarentum PA, Shelley Tickel of Brookville
PA, and her loving sidekick and caregiver Melani Forsythe of Moon Twp PA. Additionally, she is
survived by 9 grandchildren-Jaime Park, Jenna Exley, Allison Park, Bradley Forsythe, Michael
Forsythe, Kelsee Forsythe, Tia Phillips, Bradley Anderson Jr and Logan Anderson. She
recently met and welcomed her 16th great-grandchild. She will be greatly missed.
Babs was known and loved by her many friends and family for her quick wit, attention to
details, love of music, reading and Words with Friends! We have all had our punctuation and
grammar corrected by her many times!
