Barbara Charlene (Bertie) LeVoy, 87, gracefully passed away on January 14, 2026 with her loving daughters by her side. A woman of Southern charm and rare magic, Barbara lived a vibrant life defined by curiosity, optimism and an ability to make everyone feel truly seen. Born in 1938 to Dorothy (Whitten) Woodward and Peter Coles Bertie, Barbara grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A champion speller, active choir member and talented thespian in her youth, she graduated from Will Rogers High School, and subsequently earned a degree in French from Memphis State University. Throughout her life, she called Oklahoma City, Houston, Ponte Vedra, and finally Sewickley, Pennsylvania, home. Barbara was preceded in death by her three partners in life: John Forsythe, Jim LeVoy, and Ted Klein, as well as her 20 year old daughter, Janice Forsythe, and 2 month old grandson, Ian Fadzen. Survived by her sister, Carolyn Wallis; daughters Karen Forsythe Fadzen and Lara LeVoy (Dave Richardson); stepdaughters Kit LeVoy and Kim Klein; grandchildren Colin Fadzen (Robbie Berg), Cameron Fadzen, Ella Richardson, and Ray Richardson, and nephews Chris (Teresa) and Doug (Jeannette) Wiedenmann. Despite facing significant tragedy, Barbara chose joy. She was a lifelong learner of the world, loving travel, Jewish traditions, the symphony and poetry. Whether she was feeding bluebirds, hiking up a Colorado trail, volunteering at the library, walking the beach with friends, catching up with her grandchildren, working on creative projects or humming a little tune, she infused every moment with wonder. Barbara’s legacy is best captured in her own words: “Find beauty in every day, learn something new every day, and believe in yourself. But, be open to the idea that there is more than yourself. And–be kind.” In lieu of flowers, please honor Barbara’s memory with a quiet moment of reflection or an act of kindness for someone else. Barbara’s family thanks the staff at Masonic Village at Sewickley for their exceptional care.
