Audrey A. (Sherwin) Kaplack

Audrey A. (Sherwin) Kaplack, age 79, of Sewickley Hills Borough, formerly of McKeesport, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Paramount Senior Living Bethel Park. Audrey was born on Jan. 15, 1944 in McKeesport, one of two children to the late Walter and Stella (Kosmer) Sherwin. On March 8, 2016, Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Vincent M. Kaplack, Sr. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Edward Sherwin. Audrey is survived by her three loving sons and their wives Vincent M. Kaplack, Jr. and Carrie, Nicholas D. Kaplack and Tara, and Victor M. Kaplack and Emily; nine cherished grandchildren Vincent, Kelsey, Khloe, Nicholas, Cooper, Keith, Stella, Cecelia, and Victor Jr. Audrey was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Glenfield. A 1961 graduate of McKeesport High School, Audrey went on to St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1964 as a Registered Nurse. The majority of Audrey’s career was with Sewickley Valley Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit. Each year, the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing honors nurses with their Cameos of Caring Program who demonstrate excellence in nursing care, serve as an advocate for patients and families, and embody the essence of the nursing profession. For her dedication to the above mentioned, Audrey was recognized with the Cameos of Caring Award at their 4th annual ceremony. Mom did all this while being a devoted wife and raising three great sons. Family was always first with Mom and she always had our backs. Love you. Friends received at R. D. Copeland, Ltd. Irvine Chapel, 702 Beaver St., Sewickley, on Monday 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 pm, prayers at 9:15 am on Tuesday at the funeral home followed by Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Glenfield at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 12:30 PM.
