Anne (Jones) Wigton

Anne Painter (Jones) Wigton, 88, lifelong resident of Sewickley, PA passed away Friday, July 12, 2024. Born and raised in Sewickley, she was the only child of the late William Mechling and Helen (Painter) Jones.  Anne was the loving mother of Barbara Wigton Weaver (Ken), James F. Wigton, Jr. (Betsy) and William F. Wigton; grandmother of Jaymie Wigton Zdral (Nik), Richard J. Wigton (Rosina) and Kristofer L. Wigton; great grandmother of Trevan and Everett Zdral, Bekam, Painter and Dante Wigton.  A 1953 graduate of Sewickley High School, she attended Thiel College and graduated from The Robert Morris School.  She was employed by Alcoa and then by Dravo Corporation at their Neville Island shipyard facility until her retirement from subsequent owner Metso Minerals following 39 years of service. She had been a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sewickley, PA.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 28, 2024 @ 2pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sewickley, PA. Interment in Sewickley Cemetery will be private. Funeral arrangements by R.D. Copeland, Ltd., Irvine Chapel, Sewickley, PA.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in her name to the Sewickley Shade Tree Fund @ the Sewickley Borough Building, the Sewickley Valley Historical Society or the Audubon Society of Western PA.
