Ann Louse (Bartlet) Scales
Ms. Scales, born March 18, 1931, in England, United Kingdom, most recently residing at Rochester Manor & Villa, Rochester, PA passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
She is proceeded in death by her parents: John Bartlett and Marjorie (Monday) Bartlett, her son, Martin N. Scales, and granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Wharton. She is survived by her children: Alison Scales (Hopewell Twp., Beaver), Mary Johnson (Hopewell Twp, Beaver), Katharine ( Kenneth) Wharton (Baden, Beaver), Walter Trevor Scales (Rochester, Beaver), John Scales, (California), and Jean Scales Betsch, eight grandchildren: Jessica Scales (Mexico), Alex (Gwen) Blonski (Colorado), Nicklos Scales (Pittsburgh), Jennifer (Scott) Miklos, Melissa (Nick) Costantini, Samual David Johnson (Pittsburgh), Michael (Abby) Wharton, Jeremy Wharton, and seven great grandchildren.
Ann had a varied career which included being a key puncher operator, cashier, baker, salesperson to name a few. She ended her career working for Adult Literacy Programs. Here in Beaver County, then in the Washington, DC area and Elkton, MD. After which she spent time in California for several years before returning to the Pittsburgh area in the mid 2010’s. Her most important job was mother to her seven children.
She moved to the Pittsburgh area with her family in the late 1960’s after moving from the UK with her husband and young son to California where her oldest daughter was born, back to the UK where she had the twins. Then to Canada for a few years then to Bethlehem, PA where the boys came along and finally here to the Pittsburgh area, settling in Hopewell Township Beaver County, where the final baby girl arrived.
Ms. Scales enjoyed reading, knitting, traveling and spending time with her children, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service is being planned for Friday, March 14th at 10am at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, 405 Frederick Ave, Sewickley, PA 15143.
