Allen W. Kephart, Sr., 83, a life-long resident of Crescent, passed away peacefully with his family present on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Arden Courts of North Hills. Allen was born at home in Wireton on May 2, 1941, one of six children to the late Herman and Claire (Schultz) Kephart. Allen is the beloved husband of Kay Schreckengost who he married on August 27, 1959; loving father of Karen (Mark) Killmeyer, Allen W. (Wendy Doolan) Kephart, Jr., and Rhoda (fiancé Jeff Fleming) Oktela; cherished grandfather of Jamie (Julian) Carvalho and Lindsey (Zach) Collings; proud great grandfather of Grady Carvalho, Harper Carvalho, Colby Collings; brother of Joyce (Karen Kelleher) Kephart and the late Donald (the late Joan) Kephart, the late Richard (the late Marion) Kephart, the late Jean (the late George) Maxin, and the late Michael “Lee” (surviving spouse Dorie) Kephart. Also many loving nieces and nephews. Allen, a proud steelworker, worked for over 41 + years for J & L Steel, Aliquippa Works, as a welder. Allen, very civic minded and engaged, served on the Crestwell Heights Water Authority for over 20 + years. He and Kay enjoyed time at their campground at Plantation Park, Mercer. His hobbies included golfing and hunting. He was a DYI guy, sort of a jack of all trades, who helped family, friends, and neighbors. Allen was well-loved by all and will be missed by many. Visitation Monday (July 15th) 4-8 PM at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. with further visitation on Tuesday (July 16th) from 9:30 AM until time of service at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Coraopolis Cemetery. We would like to thank Tapestry in Moon Township, Arden Courts in the North Hills and Commonwealth Hospice for their exceptional and compassionate care for Allen. You were Our Angels of Mercy.
