Albert J. Mendicino, age 87, a life-long resident of Sewickley, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 21, 2021, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver Medical Center. He was born in Sewickley on April 27, 1934, to the late Peter and Thomasino Mendicino. He was the beloved husband of the late Olga Bokulic - Mendicino; loving father of Mileen (James) Jurcak; cherished grandfather of Brittany Jurcak; brother of the late Tom Mendicino, Tony Mendicino, Pasquale (Betty) Medicino, Ross (Bridget) Mendicino; brother-in-law to Violet Medicino, Anne Zielinski and Betty Francis; uncle to special nephews, Patrick and Tom Mendicino; also, many loving nieces and nephews and several cousins in Italy. Albert was proficient as a Master Plasterer, Brick Layer and Carpenter, who built homes in the Sewickley Area and you were blessed with a sturdy home if you were lucky enough to have him build it. He loved to be busy and completing projects along with being a member of the Sons of Italy in Sewickley. He proudly served as a Medic in the U.S. Army. Many of you know Albert! He was written up in the Sewickley Herald, known as the Christmas Tree Man, and spread Christmas cheer as he happily sold Christmas Trees in Sewickley for over 60 years. Albert loved the outdoors and enjoyed planting his large garden and sharing it with family. He was very loving and generous to all. Visitation Thursday 2-4, 6-8 at Copeland’s Sewickley, 702 Beaver St. where prayers will be recited on Friday at 10 am followed by Mass at St. James Church at 10:30 am. Father Brian Noel, celebrant. Burial will follow in Sewickley Cemetery.
