Adriana Maria Ciarallo of Coraopolis, PA age 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 30, 2021.
Adriana was born in Scanno, Italy on September 1, 1935, the only child of Lino DiCenso and Maria Colaneri DiCenso. After completing her higher education in Italy, Adriana became an elementary school teacher, following in her own mother’s legacy. Shortly thereafter Adriana became reacquainted with a close family friend, Luke Bernard Ciarallo, who had returned to Scanno on holiday from his engineering studies at Carnegie Tech. They married in 1960 and Adriana immigrated to the United States with Luke where they began their life together in Coraopolis. Luke and Adriana had six children and shared 19 years of marriage together before his sudden passing in 1979. With quiet resilience, love, and humor Adriana raised her children into adulthood, keeping many things as they had always been: centering the family around daily homemade meals, with her own handmade pasta and authentic italian baked treats, and encouraging diligence and persistence in the pursuit of education. Adriana’s home in Coraopolis remained a bustling hub of loving family activity for more than 60 years. Adriana is survived by her six children: Robert Ciarallo, M.D. (Elizabeth) of Presto PA; Anna Maria Ciarallo, M.S. of Chicago, IL; Lydia Ciarallo Hage, M.D. (John) of Boston, MA; Frank Ciarallo PhD (Sharon) of Dayton, OH; Laura Ciarallo of Coraopolis, PA; and Luke Ciarallo (Teresa) of Coraopolis, PA; as well as seven grandchildren: Diana Ciarallo, Marc Ciarallo, Madeline Ciarallo, Luke Ciarallo, Isabelle Hage, Giuliana Hage, and Gabriela Hage. Friends and family will be received on Friday September 3, 2021 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Township. A Mass in celebration of Adriana’s life will take place at Saint Joseph’s Church in Coraopolis on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:30 a.m.
